Has anyone ever flown this or the GAAR in a helicopter? Would there be an issue with it? Thanks, Don

Donh,
A helicopter is fine, it is still an aircraft. Just carry out your timed test flight and register, then enjoy flying in New Zealand.

Hi Pilots,
As this is the second NZAR we have just about exhausted the airfields in New Zealand that can realistically handle a medium sized aircraft such as a DC-3 which many like to fly, hence this will be the last NZAR at least for awhile.
We at BGA would still like to hold another rally in September 2017 for your enjoyment, so what I would like to ask is for your suggestions as to what country, state, territory or area you would like a new rally to be held for 2017.
So please come forward and post suggestions, talk it out with your sim friends or we can discuss your thoughts on this forum.
All suggestions will be taken onboard so we may present you with another fun rally for 2017, naturally the GAAR run each February will run as normal.
Thanks for your input, it will be greatly appreciated.

Rob,
I have recently been doing some DC3 bush flying around PNG. There are some awesome challenges up North! Most airfields will handle a DC3 and there are plenty to choose from. You can also go to some nearby islands.

Hi Brian, Thanks for your suggestion. Each February we run a rally called Great Australian Air Rally GAAR which has been running for the past 16 years. On occasions we include NG in those flights and would not be keen to add NG as a seperate event for a September rally.
If you have other suggestions for the September rally then by all means post them as they are greatly appreciated.
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, How about a "Kentucky Derby"! Starting at KLEX (Bluegrass Airport) and finishing at KFTK (Ft Knox) for the gold medal. Of course we would have to include KGLW (Glasgow Municipal) in the route for Allan. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_KentuckyThere are heaps of GA airports with long runways. I would suggest to make this a GA flight with single engine props like the C172 etc. Cheers Brian

How about something in the West Indies? Maybe Miami to Trinidad.

Many years ago (2004, maybe) we did a group flight from Tillamook, Oregon to St Thomas, USVI. Something like that might be interesting.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.
I remember Tom's Spring and Fall Jaunts including that one. That's another idea worth thinking about between rallies as well.

Speaking about the DC-3, this aircraft has good short field abilities, and I have been able to land, and take-off comfortably at/from NZMF (2597ft runway). There are some more airports or airfields in NZ that can accomodate our good old Gooney Bird... 8000ft rwy range : NZOH 6000ft rwy range : NZDN, NZHN, NZWN 5000ft rwy range : NZNV, NZMC, NZWG, NZLE 4000ft rwy range : NZWB, NZCI, NZKT, NZMS, NZOU, NZPP,NZTU, NZWK, NZWO 3000ft rwy range : NZGB, NZKK, NZNE, NZLX, NZFI, NZGT, NZGM, NZHS, NZUK, NZRU, NZKM 2500ft rwy range : NZTK, NZMF, 2000ft rwy range : NZKI And herebelow some sites amongst others where I collected various NZ airports and other goodies... www.freewarescenery.com/fsx/newzealand.htmlwww.virtualairnz.com/scenery-FSX.phpwww.vectorlandclass.co.nz/index.php/downloads/airportsBlue skies to all Philippe DCA0565
