Allan: Thank you for getting back. A wise old engineer once told me, "Show me a guy who never screws up and I'll show you a guy who never does anything." I'll download v2 of the P3D files and won't worry about the type of airplane used as default.
I've already got my C-47 dialed in at La Coloma. It doesn't matter what airplane is in the .pln file; I always have to load my C-47, then move it to the ramp. Next, I adjust the fuel load (100% mains, 50% aux), and a few other setup procedures.
I see that the flights are sequential - that is flight 1 is from A to B, flight 2 is from B to C, and so on. One thing that has worked in the past is to park my airplane at airport B, then save the flight as flight 2. This overwrites the flight 2 weather file, so I copy the original flight 2 weather file in from the download folder. Sounds complicated, but that leaves my airplane how I left it at the end of flight 1, all ready to go for flight 2.
Thank you ATB

Allan: I've downloaded and unzipped the GCAR 2022 flights for P3D, with the idea of pre-positioning my C-47 at the departure point for flight 01.
Here are the files I have in my Bluegrass folder for flight 01:
GCAR_2022_01_(P3D).wx
GCAR_2022_01_(P3D).fxml
GCAR_2022_01_(FSX).WX
GCAR_2022_01_(FSX).FSSAVE
GCAR_2022_01_(FSX). FLT
P3D looks for my flights in this directory: C:\Users\MyName\Documents\Prepar3D v5 Files
Which of the above files should I copy into my P3D flights directory?
Please advise.
Thank you ATB

Here we are landing at Hughenden on Rwy 06. It's supposed to be gravel, but it showed up as a grass surface in P3D v5. Oh well, it was nice and smooth: Nancy said it was a great landing! Seeya ATB

It's all designed to blow your mind. I'm flying my MJ C-47 in P3D v5.3, and the published weather for each flight never seems to match up. Not a problem. We'll just fly on with whatever weather shows up for that particular flight.

Just completed flight 08. It was a good flight - nobody died. The weather was nice also. I’m trying to get close to the target times, so far with varying degrees of success. On this flight, I diverted down to Salzach Valley to facilitate descent to Salzburg. Everybody in the airplane was wide awake for that. Ernie and I are going to take Nancy out for a night on the town. We won't be in shape to fly tomorrow, so we'll wait a day or do until flight 09.

Here we are on Leg 03: Oh, shucky darns, the weather.wx files supplied with our flight plans, as interpreted by P3D, doesn't show all that rain that was forecasted. It has the wind, the cloud layers, and the visibility, but not the specific weather event, such as rain, snow, whatever. Oh well, we'll just have to struggle on with what we've got. We carefully reviewed the weather that we got for flight 03, and we found that we get headwinds above 6,000 feet MSL or so, and a slight tailwind component below 4,000 feet. We were able to use this to get our arrival time to within a minute or so of the target time. Cool! Seeya ATB

Allan: Thank you for that! Ernie and I talked it over, and we decided to ignore those altitude recommendations, as we didn't want to make all our passengers wear oxygen masks. We'll have to be careful flying through the Alps, hugging the terrain and skipping over the really high passes before diving down into the next valley. Should be a fun ride in our old C-47!

Deeply sorry to read of the passing of Urs. He's up there, waiting for the rest of us. Meanwhile, I will dedicate my little bit in this flight to his memory. I flew 01 today. Here is my C-47, just before my preflight, waiting for Ernie and Nancy to show up. Seeya ATB

Ernie and I got up early and checked over Air America 829. Where was Nancy? She somehow managed to elude us last night, so we were hoping we wouldn't have to leave without her. While we were loading the mail bags, and some folks were lining up to get in the airplane, we heard this loud rumble coming towards us. This cowboy drove up to the airplane in a hopped up Jeep, and Nancy got out and walked over to the airplane. Nancy was fine, but the cowboy looked pretty worn out. Nancy got the passengers squared away, and, after getting clearance, off we went. We got some pictures along the way:
Here's a drone shot of us swapping out the mail at Rock Springs:
We overflew Green River, and I had to take a picture. Last time I was in Green River was back in 1998. We were on a motorcycle ride, down to El Paso, Texas for a tee-shirt and an oil change. This happened on the way back. We were staying in this really nice motel. All four of us were in one room. I had my Colt Officer's in my boot in case the alarm went off on DJ's bike (locked to MY bike). DJ woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep, so he decided to rearrange his gear. All his gear was in a big cargo bag, but also in individual Zip-Lock bags. He was trying to be quiet, but all that rustling around woke the rest of us up. I remember thinking that I could shoot him, but then I for sure wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. We all got up, like, at 0230. Next thing we knew, we were blasting down I-80 at 85 mph (We were riding Harleys back then, and that's about as fast as you could go on an Evo FL-Glide. Today it'd be more like 120 on a BMW S1000XR). All we saw was the road. Passing trucks and watching for jackalopes. Actually, it was pretty cool. That's why I took this photo:
Here we are clearing the last ridge. There's Salt Lake City:
Got her down in one piece and delivered the mail:
We will not lose Nancy tonight.
Edit: Hey, I kinda screwed up. Some how I got confused and flew both legs 6 and 7 as legs 6-1 and 6-2. Oh well, it was still a fun flight. I did resubmit my PIREP data, and hope that the revision is accepted. Should be OK.
