The 2022 GCAR is now available for test flight and pilot registration with flights scheduled for September.
All piston-engined and turboprop aircraft are eligible.
Further updates of files will follow.
Airfield, routes and flights for FS9, FSX, P3D and XPlane will be available from August 22nd.
Test flight information is available and follows the same routines as previous rallies. FS9, FSX P3D, MSFS and X-Plane files are available to download to simplify setting up the test flights.

Allan: I've downloaded and unzipped the GCAR 2022 flights for P3D, with the idea of pre-positioning my C-47 at the departure point for flight 01.
Here are the files I have in my Bluegrass folder for flight 01:
GCAR_2022_01_(P3D).wx
GCAR_2022_01_(P3D).fxml
GCAR_2022_01_(FSX).WX
GCAR_2022_01_(FSX).FSSAVE
GCAR_2022_01_(FSX). FLT
P3D looks for my flights in this directory: C:\Users\MyName\Documents\Prepar3D v5 Files
Which of the above files should I copy into my P3D flights directory?
Please advise.
Thank you ATB

Hi, I'm currently waiting for a ferry in Stornoway. Looks like I really messed up with the P3d files. Load up the P3d reference files. The P3d pln file should be there instead of the Fsx pln file. They should be identical. I know that I used the default Fsx DC3 instead of the Lockheed L10 when setting up the flights. I cannot fix that until I get home on Friday. If this ferry gets to Ullapool tonight I will look at fixing the errant pln files. Anyone finding any more "deliberate confusion opportunities" is entitled to free drinks at a Unnamed bar in Ullapool - if you can find me.
Cheers, Allan

Which of the above files should I copy into my P3D flights directory? I would suggest to copy all of them over. When selecting the flight, just make sure that you select the P3D version of that particular flight, as example:

I finally got to Ullapool where they celebrated our arrival with a half-hour power cut.
I have amended the P3D download to a V2. This is now linked on the front page as V2. The download now contains two further zip files. One contains the P3D specific files for the flights. The second contains the P3D pln files for the flights should you choose to select them from the plans menu after loading up the flights.
Thanks both for pointing out the error and a fix. Your help is always appreciated.
V3 will come in the next couple of days with the DC-3 replaced by the P3D default Lockheed L-10.
Cheers, Allan

Allan: Thank you for getting back. A wise old engineer once told me, "Show me a guy who never screws up and I'll show you a guy who never does anything." I'll download v2 of the P3D files and won't worry about the type of airplane used as default.
I've already got my C-47 dialed in at La Coloma. It doesn't matter what airplane is in the .pln file; I always have to load my C-47, then move it to the ramp. Next, I adjust the fuel load (100% mains, 50% aux), and a few other setup procedures.
I see that the flights are sequential - that is flight 1 is from A to B, flight 2 is from B to C, and so on. One thing that has worked in the past is to park my airplane at airport B, then save the flight as flight 2. This overwrites the flight 2 weather file, so I copy the original flight 2 weather file in from the download folder. Sounds complicated, but that leaves my airplane how I left it at the end of flight 1, all ready to go for flight 2.
Thank you ATB

Alan,
I noticed the MSFS files/flight plans are not ready for download... is there a target date? Also at the bottom you have a guide for GCAR but the contents are for GAAR... is there a target for availability???
Thanks for the contact email,
and for your work on the rally...

Allan, there is an issue with "MSFS Guide for the GCAR." It displays the guide for the GAAR 2022

Please correct the subject guide. Currently when you click on it it displays the guide for the GAAR 2022 which we flew in March/April of 2022.

Sorry - I don't have any photos for flight 03. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. No entertainment was involved (I'm flying P3D v5 academic, and, as we all know, entertainment is strictly forbidden). Well, we were almost entertained when Nancy actually took off her girdle in the cabin! Oh man! Ernie and I are going to keep a close eye on her as we work our way through the various night spots, as we make our way to the Golden Eye Hotel (a 5-star establishment).
