GAAR 2020 Leg#7 Ayers Rock to Oodnadatta
So we would have reached GAAR flight number 7.. to Oodnadatta! There is nothing like a sumptuous Australian breakfast.. So we enjoy it! Thom left early again, so I'm on my way too! Checklist.. as usual! All works without complaining..
Weather on the route.. actually great.. 11 knots from ENE
The friendly controller (we had a couple of drinks) guides me to runway in use.. 13
.. but be careful.. they are saw down a few trees located near the taxiway..
Poor trees!
Voila.. left away and do the preparatory work!
By the way, I have installed a new gadget - That red thing.. you can turn it off by a click - these are not thunderstorms, but show the current situation of that stupid virus.. I click it away. Take off power is set! Rapid departure!
Good old Uluru! He was photographed to death already.. so I let him with his spirit!
My companion is the Finke River for a long time. Normally dried out like old bones and usually lost in the distance!
It's time to think about the approach.. but then an emergency call comes via radio.. a burning 4x4 vehicel on the track..
I haven't loaded any extinguishing powder.. but I know, Thom probably has a ton of stuff in the cargo hold!
So Oodnadatta, away from everything. The place became known through the construction of the railway line in 1890. It is windy and turbulent! I try my best! At least in the direction of landing! Applause from the audience! Ehhhhh! Pretty tight.. usually a cessna or two!
Big final here?
No way… ! The place is a classic. The most important contact point is the so-called Pink Roadhouse. Everything your heart desires is here.. And we have a very big heart!

leg 07
well, Urs told everything what has to be told,... so lets concentrate on my picture story, and please apologize for my looooooooooooooong story, but as I've never been to Aussieland before, I could not resist to fly a circle around Uluru and additional a shortcut to Mt. Connor and then along the Finke River to Oodnadatta ( what ever this name means....) and! look carefully, would you ever see the thin smokeline on the horizon? ? I had to take my binoculars when I heared the help transmission of these guys with their Landrover,...but I think we could safe most of it as we flew directly and in high speed and for heavens sake we carried a few boxes of red fire powder extinguisher with us...afterwards we flew a straight in to safe time in landing and: only 0.39 late ....that was a rush of endorphines, I can tell you... the best of all: Urs will take me to the pink restaurant he was in,years ago, and insisted to pay the bill,...so it shall be!!! CHEERS!!!

I would like to join you for a beer and a nice talk about planes and other things. But I just arrived in Ayers Rock.
See you, Luuk

Some white patches ahead. I suppose they are dried up lake beds. I was supposed to get a sunscreen but I don't think it was installed correctly. Well, maybe it will keep the beer cooler in the forward baggage compartment.
