The 2023 GAAR is now available for test flight and pilot registration with flights scheduled for April.
Piston-engined and turboprop aircraft first flown between 1903 and 1998 are eligible.
Further updates of files will follow.
Airfield, routes and flights for FS9, FSX, P3D, MSFS and X-Plane will be available from mid March.
Test flight information is available. FS9, FSX P3D and X-Plane files are available to download to simplify setting up the test flights.
This year we are allowing pilots to simply nominate their Ground Speed at cruising altitude as an alternative to completing the Test Flight. Just be careful not to use Indicated Air Speed!

Hello!
Thanks for having put again this Rally! In the downloads for previous rallies we had *.pln files, very helpful for Plan-G. Can we expect the same files for the current rally?
Kind Regards,
Domingos

Right! We did receive comments that the inclusion of the flightplans was taking too much of the skill out of the Rally.
Now, due largely to the removal of navaids in the latest sims, the routes are using airfields as waypoints.
An error in one of the flights has been reported so I will work on correcting that and rechecking the flights from FS9 to P3D.
I could put the Plan-G plan files up as a download for conversion by pilots.
cheers, Allan

Thanks! Meanwhile I have produced the pln file for the first flight. This was very easy, as there was only a waypoint. But it might be more difficult for the remaining flights.

Domingos

In the GAAR Weather Summary table, the temperature columns do not match. For Australia, I assume that the "deg C" column is the correct values.

Thanks Johan. The deg C column is correct - I can't believe that I inverted the conversion factor!
I will update the FS9-P3D weather files and re-issue today.

Hello Allan,
Today I made my own calculations of the ten flights. I compared the Target Times in the Roster with my own calculations and for 9 out of the 10 flights my calculated TT is exactly the same as the one in the Roster. However there is a difference in flight 05. My calculation is 164.02 and the Roster says 152.02. It looks as though flight 05 is treated as a 1 sector flight. Would you be as kind to check the calculation of flight 05 and let me now if there is a mistake?
Kind regards, Luuk Bakkum

Hi Luuk,
Quite correct. The Roster showed only one sector for Leg 5 instead of two. It has now been corrected with the latest update.
cheers, Allan
