I have to agree with you on this, as like your good self, I was looking forward to lots of various screenshots of the air rally as it's part of the enjoyment for me. I've posted one lot so far, but will definitely post some more soon (because I want to show off my new livery)!! Hope everyone is enjoying the rally.

I have been flying the GAAR for many many years, I love to take screenshots and used to do it regularly for my VA but when the comments started to die out it was like does anybody care anymore..... well i quit doing it. There were always the same guys, great shots, loved the sunrise, like that livery, how did you do that. etc and when i used to get nothing for the GAAR i stopped doing screenies. I'm doing it again because I like it, i'm not that vain that I want comments but it doesn't take much to recognaise the time and effort people actually put into it. All that aside, enjoy the Rally for what it is. Great fun, thanks to the team who put this up every year, I look forward to it and as it is usually in my backyard, anyway i'm in. Cheers all.

I didn't take as many pics as I'd have liked the first two legs and I doubt I'll take many on leg 3 (as it's almost all over water), but I've been bad lately about taking them because when I'm in the midst of the leg, I'm concentrating on flying the airplane and forget to get screenshots. As I fly online, it's not like I can pause, get the perfect framing, and then continue, but that's my choice and I'm aware of that. I fly these to enjoy the route and the flying, not to take lots of screenshots and end up spending as much time editing them as I did flying the leg.
Also, unfortunately, my free time this year is even more limited than normal, especially to fly during daytime on that side of the world, so I'm de-emphasizing screenshots even more this year unfortunately. Maybe this fall with the UK -> Australia race I'll be able to get more pics. I'm also hoping that starting with Leg 4 that I'll begin doing live streaming of my legs, so I'll make the links to the YouTube and VOD available here.

The live streaming on U- tube would be very Kool along with U-tube videos of these rallies.

I started to Stream Leg 4 tonight, but ended up aborting about half way through when some sort of lag issues started rearing its head (turned out to be Autogen tree overload). Will definitely be streaming Leg 5 next Saturday though.

Today I have flown Leg 9. Everything was running normally until my approach to BLI. From a distance I could see a parallelipipedic shape raising from the flat ground. And the BLI runway was on top of it... I am running P3Dv4.4. I believe the abnormal situation results from a wrong set of coordinates for this runway. I would like to know if other fellow members have the same situation.
Kind Regards,
Domingos

In FSX I landed at BLI on a grass strip in the jungle, not on a mound. Allen

Hi, Domingos, P3Dv4.4 here, and no troubles with BLI (a grass strip also on my system) Which addons do you have in your sim? Any mesh addon (I am using Toposim mesh)? Any ORBX FTX Global addon? Any scenery or airports addon? Often, a misfit between the ground elevation and the airport elevation means a mesh issue, or an airport elevation issue. The addon mesh is generally more accurate than the simulator's standard mesh, so terrain profile and heights are different, and can sometimes generate airports on "mesas", or airports digged into the ground. Hello Philippe!
I do not have any addon for that area. I have OrbX but only for Europe. I checked the situation today starting a flight at BLI. The aircraft was on a mesa, at over 700 feet (the GAAR information says it should be at 51 feet). Interestingly I can see another mesa nearby. So for my next leg I will departing from a (very tall) aircraft carrier...
Regards,
Domingos

Urs, hoping the eye is on the mend. This has been some great flying but your screenies and comments are missed. As a fellow pilot with a 77th birthday coming up in a short while I know your love for flying the GAAR. Since I am already at YHID I will be hoisting a Brew to your recovery and good health. Cheers Proptwister
