Good clear explanation SKM.
Burton, the questions are fine, ask as many as you wish.
The rally is for fun and enjoyment, it is not a race and there is no first, second or third. You are only competing against your own flight time. I myself do the flight planning for the rally and Allan does all the administration work, sometimes there is a short delay with updating Pirep results as Allan travels for work so don't worry if you do not see your results immediately . You may fly each leg once or as many times as you wish, but please only submit one Pirep for each leg.
Have a great time with your flights and we hope to see you again in September for our England to Australia rally, you can read about that rally in the Autumn Rally Ramblings section.
Regards Rob

Rob brought up a good point, Yes only one Pirep per leg. Also, be sure to log the Flight time with WestWind Again only one entry per leg. (I will get clarification from Westwind Management on additional time.)

I found a problem in P3D loading the first flight situation. The P3D file loads you at the default P3D situation airfield, not Innisfail. Weather and time seem OK. I had to manually relocate to Innisfail. The second flight situation loads the location correctly, so it may only be the first flight situation which is affected.

Kev,
Apologies, I have now corrected the P3D download with the correct start airports for legs 1, 5 and 10. Concentrating on getting the times and weather correct I missed changing the start airports on 3 occasions.
Cheers, Allan

The timer LUA that I recommended for X-Plane is not tracking time 60+ minutes, so you will need to keep track of how many times it rolls over. While whipping the Egg off my face. You can also go into X-Planes settings, data output, and check display timers box and use X-Planes built-in timer. Now, why didn't I think of that to begin with?

Capfyer.. Oh yes, many charts and hours are spent compiling these rallies.
Mountains 12000 plus are an every day flying adventure in PMG, if you can't go over the top you pick your way through the valleys, same as real world if you have a mission to complete, a good self test of your pilot skills.
Have fun.

Hey Rob & Sean - I put this in my PIREP, but I apparently mis-reported my test time (GAAR 015). I for some reason put down 15.17 as my test flight time. That was not correct. It was 10.17. I just noticed when I went to check against my target time for this leg a little while ago. I'm not sure why I didn't catch it sooner, but if you could update my info and goal times, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
On to leg 2.

Probably best to contact Allan Lowson through the GAAR director address regarding this matter.

Corrected target times emailed. This tablet seems to be needing more changes to reset and upload the roster. I will reset the online roster on Friday. Inintial times and scores for legs 1 and 2 will be uploaded at the same time. Any corrections can be submitted at any time.
Cheers, Allan

This is one heck of an enjoyable GAAR. Two thumbs up. Planning on flying a couple, maybe more lol, to get some acceptable to me times. Even for Alaska, BC, PNW, there are some definite challenges. Thanks for all the hard work.

I have one question to all of you: as there are 40 participants this year, I expected to see some really nice and different screenshots from all these wonderful old aircrafts. To just fly and send a time back to Allan is one thing.... but to show all the marvellous places and adventures that are „the challenge“ of this show... in your screenshots bring life to this event! It‘s one thing to sit in front of the pc and „just play the game“ but its another thing to“ live“ the game! So why are there not more screenies around? I remember all the GAARs from the last 10 years (!) and it seems that screenshots became less within the years..... its kind of sad and we ( Urs and I ) miss your pics! Its our way to thank for all the work Allan and his friends put into this event and I really hope to cheer you up to „really“ participate in this show! Hurry up guys and take your cams, pull the trigger and show your adventures.... greetings from Austria and Switzerland! Thom and Urs
