Forgot to take screen shots. Parked. You may wonder how I messed up the landing after a long and easy approach. Well, you're just gonna have to wonder.

Somehow, I failed to get any pictures leaving Elko. Don't know why, oh well. Anyway, here's the first turn on the way to Reno, Battle Mountain, NV. Local legend has the name coming from "confrontations" between the local indigenous population and white settlers.
Next up, Winnemucca...
And then there was Lovelocks.
Arrival in Reno was nothing special.
One more time, spread those wings. You can't see it, because I don't have video, but NATOPS calls for the wings to spread to the vertical, then fold, and then spread all of the way. Doing it in that sequence ensures the wing locking pins are sequenced properly, and they all slide home. "Failure to follow established procedure MAY result in unintentional wing fold in flight." That is NOT a good way to end an airplane ride!
Gear coming up...
And Sayonara, Reno, "The Biggest Little City In The World" And yes, the little gray airplane is passing some big gray airplanes. That's the Nevada Air National Guard, the "High Rollers". I seem to be making a habit of this...
The first waypoint on the last leg was Truckee
There are 2 routes you can take. You can stick with I-80. Or intercept Donner Lake , and take Donner Pass. Here is Donner Lake with the pass in the distance.
Just a couple more... Blue canyon,
Sacramento Mather; Until 1993 it was Mather AFB, an Air Education and Training Command base.
After Sacramento, a nice easy descent into Oakland. But first...
A view of San Francisco Bay, one of the greatest bays in the world. NAS Alameda on the left, with Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island on the right, and Alcatraz and the Golden Gate in the distance.
NAS Alameda. Closed now, but I made two cruises to the Western Pacific from there in the mid and late 70s. Directly under the airplane is USS Hornet, CVS 11. My first ship, USS Oriskany CVA 34, was a sister ship of Hornet. She was home-ported in Alameda. Great memories.
Last waypoint, Oakland
"Once more unto the breach" (With apologies to the Bard...) On the approach to San Francisco International
That's ALOT of runway!
And FINIS!
Folks, it's been fun. Thank You to Allan and crew for putting this together. See y'all Down Under in February...
