The 2020 GAAR is now available for test flight and pilot registration with flights scheduled for March.
Piston-engined and turboprop aircraft first flown between 1903 and 1995 are eligible.
Further updates of files will follow.
Airfield, routes and flights for FS9, FSX, P3D and XPlane will be available from mid of February.
Test flight information is available. FS9, FSX P3D and X-Plane files are available to download to simplify setting up the test flights.

I'm thinking of flying a Piper Aztec E in X-Plane for the 2020 GAAR. I have the same plane in FSX for comparison. I have flown the test flight from EGPE to EGPA in both planes using the downloaded files. I'm now at EGPA and I want to create a flight plan for the return trip, EGPA-DY-KSS- EGPE for the GPS 430 in X-Plane. So how do I enter the NDB and VOR into the flight plan? It's a cinch in FSX. Also, the map does net even show the DY NDB and it looks like the VOR is listed as LSM. So unless the GAAR will provide Flight plans for X-Plane to download I'm at a loss. I'm pretty new to X-Plane as far as creating flight plans. I've read the manual for the 430, not much help. Any ideas? Allen

Allen,
X-Plane gives me the heeby-jeebys. One day I will persevere, might even read the instructions! I will make flightplans available for X-Plane alongside the other sims.
Cheers, Allan

Hi Allan, I agree. I can make flight plans in Plan-G and fly them in FSX and X-Plane. But I'm still messing up in GPS 430. And the X-Plane map is frustrating. Allen

I can make the flight plans and weather files for X-Plane. I have figured out how to get the actual METARS from past dates from Active Sky XP. I will do up an Active Sky set and a custom set based on the files you sent me last night.

@idaho Flyer, and any other X-Plane users. X-Plane has a newer nav AIRAC database thus KSS and DY do not exist in X-Plane as well as many other out of service navaids. The best way I have found to get around this is to use Plan-G to plan the route with FSX data then export the Plan to X-plane in the FMS format. Plan-G will insert waypoints at the missing navaids. then pull up the plan in the GNS 530 or GNS 430
Someone asked about timers for X-plane, I use the FlywithLUA timer. However, note that it does not go above 1 hour so you will have to manually track when it rolls over. start the timer as you begin your takeoff roll and stop when you come to a complete stop on the runway. I also have used the stopwatch function on my cell phone to help track the hours. But now I have seriously upgraded my hardware and now have the Honeycomb yoke Ch Throttle quadrant and CH Pro Pedals instead of a simple joystick. I have also added a 24-hour kitchen timer with a count-up function to my setup. To get the time from H:MM:SS to MMM.ss, take multiply H by 60 then add minutes then use the chart provided to convert seconds to decimal format. example your flight is 3:20:15 you would multiply (3 X 60=180)+20=200. by the chart, 15seconds =.25 so the time to submit is 200.25

Hi Sean, Thanks for the info. I now have Plan G running and finally got the X-Plane data base compiled, so I can make flight plans as you suggest. Works neat, actually. The plane I will be flying only has a 2D panel so I added a timer from the instrument list. Like you say, it only counts up to an hour so I need to track when it turns over. Haven't figured out how to add gauges to 3D panels yet. Have a good day. Allen

Hi Sean, So I see how to add a way point in Plan-G using the EDIT button. But how do I delete a way point? Allen

Assuming you are talking about deleting a waypoint from the Flight Plan. with the flight plan open, right-click on the waypoint then select waypoint.

Well, shucks, Sean. I'm still confused. With the flight plan open in Plan G and a right click on the wpt, the only choices I get are: Create user wpt, Insert before wpt or Insert after wpt. Nothing about Waypoint. The only other way I can see is to open the Output\FMS Plans folder and delete the wpt there. That seems awkward. Allen

I have not received any flight plans yet. 08 Feb is the last update to the Gaar on my screen.

Allen yes that is awkward, double check the options after right clicking delete may be towards the bottom. Are you running Plan-G as administrator?

Hi Sean, I am the only user and I have Admin rights. I have figured out my problem which was mostly my FSX mind set. All I wanted to do in Plan G was to move a wpt. In FSX a wpt can't be moved, a new wpt needs to be added and the old one deleted. In Plab G with the flight plan loaded and in EDIT a wpt can be moved to the desired location - just be sure to select the correct handle. That solved my problem, and should eliminate the need to delete. To delete a wpt I'll use the method above. Thanks for your help. Have a good day. Allen

Hi guys, I am having a small problem, I am missing the obvious somewhere. I have downloaded the 2020 GAAR flight plans (P3D) but i don't know where they go. Can you point me in the right direction.
