Hey Thom, how about " The high and the Mighty" movie and a great book written by the great Earnist Gann. Also "Fate is the Hunter", the movie was garbage but the book is brilliant, same auther. Okay we better get back to the GAAR, else Allan might get angry. Cheers

Rob,
No discussion of aviation books ever annoys me! SWMBO on the other hand can get edgy if I mention one that I don't yet have. Any book by Ernest K Gann is well worth looking out for.

Downwind, Coconut Island Finals, Coconut Ready to Go, Coconut. Yes, another tree!!! Finals, Warraber Island. I have to say, I nearly withdrew after this leg. The only way to stop on this was a "judicious" groundloop.

... a bit hot were we? Another unhelpful crosswind, but I think 500ft longer than YMUI? I haven't got there yet, but landed both of mine safely at YMUI.

You're right there. It's very difficult to hold the speed down. Too streamlined I think. If all the power is taken off, it sinks, and there's a flat spot in the lower range of the throttle. I have experimented with stopping both the outers on short final, which works quite well, but of course at that point I'm committed. The two-engine go-around is a non-starter.
