Flight 10! The weather looked pretty good as we prepared for a late afternoon takeoff. "Late" because of the high latitude, which meant we'd be flying part way in the dark. We got the airplane fired up and took off from Fort Simpson at 1625.
The country looked pretty desolate. Glad our engines "sure sound happy," according to Ernie the copilot:
We cruised at 4,500 feet the whole way. The sun was setting behind us:
We were treated to a spectacular moon rise just before turning toward the localizer for RWY 33 at CYZF:
Here we are on the glideslope:
We taxied past the Buffalo Airways hangars and shut down near the terminal. After securing the airplane we were picked up by a shuttle from the Quality Inn. We had dinner at Elke's Table, followed by a couple beers at The Black Knight Pub.
Now for the flight home!

Hi guys, I'd really like to have a beer with you but I'm running late... Too busy I'm afraid : I just landed in Kake seaplane base yesterday night, and the screenshot business takes time. Here is first leg of flight 4, from Smithers to Mackenzie - already old memories for most of you. Boarding at Smithers under a bright sun Taxiing to Rwy 15 On our way to Mackenzie High range just after departure : this is Babine Mountains Provincial Park, of which highest peak is Mt Cronin at 2384 m ASL Easy flight : lakes below and a few cumulus clouds Williston Lake, while approaching Mackenzie Weather is not correctly displayed when replaying the flight with FSRecorder, that's why there are no clouds on some of my screenshots Final approach to Rwy 16 at Mackenzie Back to original flight weather Welcome to Mackenzie According to the flight plan document, weather should have been "gray and rainy", but I had fairly good weather with scattered cumulus and no rain at all. I wonder if the problem is with the .wx file or my sim. For the second leg onwards to Fort Graham, I manually selected the "cold front" weather theme and enjoyed a bumpy ride through dark clouds, strong gusts and sometimes heavy rain...

I don't know if I can be of any help for the Ford Tri-motor, but if you're patient I'll be arriving in Yellowknife with at least a few beers and some hot coffee to help waiting for the mechanic. I hope that there will still be northern lights to enjoy. Here is flight 5, from Fort Graham to Stewart. It's still a bit dark when boarding at Fort Graham, but the weather forecast is very optimistic for today's flight to Stewart Lined up Rwy 31 Our PT6 engines are delivering full power for the take-off This time we leave Williston Lake for good and head towards Chase Provincial Park Cruising at 10'500 ft Meziadin Lake Higher peaks surround Cambria icefield as we approach Stewart I spotted a narrow valley for my 7000 ft descent to the Portland Canal - let's push the stick forward Reaching Portland Canal, Stewart airport is on our right As I was a bit early regarding schedule, I continued my descent following Portland Canal to the south... ... then executed a sharp 180° turn between the mountains to head back towards Stewart During final approach to Rwy 36 at Stewart, we can see Salmon River valley and Hyder village on our left - this is Alaska Here is Hyder seaplane base, from where we'll be taking off soon to Kake Short final at Stewart, British Columbia Using a bit of reverse to avoid a turnaround on the runway First aircrafts we see since days Parked near the hangar Our next flight to Hyder seaplane base will only last a minute... See you there.

Take your time ,you fliers behind me have some weather coming up...I wonder if they make a Turbo prop conversion for the tri-motor, they do it for the beaver an otter. That would be a hot rod.

Flight 7, from Kake to Haines. I was not parked in this position but of course the nose quickly moved into the (significant) wind Finally some traffic around : one of you guys ? Off to Haines Cruising over Admiralty Island mountains at 10'500 ft Turning to heading 257 over Juneau PAJN Gustavus PAGS More mountains in Chilkat Range Lynn Canal in the background Casement Glacier near Seduction Point Destination in sight Too early as usual, so I decided to have a look at Haines airfield... ...and flew a bit upstream Chilkat River, before turning back to Haines seaplane base. Trying to taxi towards the docks Moored, but it's been a tough job as there wasn't much space
