Took me a few attempts (due to interruptions) but I finally finished Leg 02. Starting off at Port Hardy we fill up the tanks Beautiful take-off and the day looks great. Heading north we hit the cold front and rain Get those wipers working. A little patch of blue off to our port side. The rain stopped just outside Bella Bella. We then make our turn to track 057 towards Bella Coola Nice and low through the fjords. Turning in around the top end of King Island to head into Bella Coola. A bit more rain with the valley ahead port. Wheels down and a bit off course from the runway. Floated down half the runway as I was too high but finally got down. Starting to panic in the cabin as we run quickly out of tarmac We did make it (just), taxiied around and time for a beer! I'm just using stock P3D and Ultimate Canada X for the scenery, anyone else using something special for scenery? I create my own ortho scenery when I fly but it's a bit of a chore for FSX/P3D when compared to Ortho4XP and XP11. Had a lot of problems with the water masks in this area so have resigned myself to flying (mostly) stock.

Beautiful shots OzWookiee. Funny how the weather conditions can be different between FS9 and P3D. I don't remember flying through any rain during flight 2.

P.S. LOVE that we're both flying the Mallard!

Leg 7. Out of Kake, Alaska 1445. Climbed to 6,500 feet and stayed there, with the occasional deviation from the magenta line due to mountains and clouds or combinations of both
Not sure why we had to fly the dog leg course, but it is what it is. Flew past Juneau, then over some more mountains. Descended into Chilkoot Inlet just as Nancy brought us some coffee. Glad we got those gimbaling coffee cup holders!
Here we are descending into the inlet:
Looks like we missed another high quality water landing. Oh, the shame of it all!
We're staying at the Fort Steward Lodge. Hope to see you guys at the Port Chilkoot Distillery.

Flight 8 went well. We loaded up, checked the airplane, fired her up, and off we went. We flew up the Katzehin River, which had floating iceburgs, then turned into a glacier. Climb rate 700 fpm, up to 10,500 feet. Once above the mountains we leveled out and turned off the seatbelt sign. Here we are on top:
We pointed the nose to toward the Atlin NDB and drove on. We began our descent soon after that:
Still had too much altitude by the time we got to Teslin, so we flew around and saw the sights, also trying to spot the wind sock to figure out the best way to land. RWY 26 looked good, so we lined up and dropped her in. Nancy said it was a "nice" landing, but it easily could have gone a different way. Here we are all chocked in:
We're staying at the Yukon Motel. We bought some native art at the George Johnston Museum. Later, in the bar, some guys were saying that it was gonna snow. I dunno. The weather looks great to us. What could possibly go wrong?

Home sick for a couple of days so managed to get another leg in. Might try for two in one day Here we are, set and ready to head out of Bella Coola, to weave our way through the mountains up to Smithers. Hitting our first of many zig zags, turning into the valley north out of Bella Coola. Such a brilliant area. Following the valley's staying below the clouds. Up over a ridge and down into a valley filled with lakes. Some more lakes... Did I mention there were some lakes here?? Starting to see some gorgeous sky colours as we get into the afternoon. Starting our descent now as we come into our final valley. Gliding in for a soft touchdown. Didn't quite use the entire rwy like last time so that's an improvement. What a finish to the day! Off to Mackenzie and Fort Graham next.

Leg 9: Hey! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? It's snowing!
It actually wasn't that bad. Right after taking off we turned on the prop and wing deicers and climbed out of the snowy overcast.
We got on our easterly course as we climbed to 9,500 feet. I am really glad that we had enough power to get us up above all the cloud filled canyons. Looking out the left window, I could see that we were passing out of the snow zone.
We started our descent and spotted Watson Lake Airfield.
We found out why we had to stop here when a truck, escorted by two HUMVEEs, met us at the terminal. We opened our cargo doors to receive the "article."
We took off soon as we were loaded.
Here we are at Simpson, a village located on an island at the confluence of the Mackenzie and the Liard Rivers. Both of the rivers were trade routs for the Hudson's Bay Company and the native Dene people of the area.
We are staying at the Mackenzie Rest Inn. We still have several bottles of Famous Grouse Scotch if any of you guys stop by.

Leg#9 Why they invented anti-icing equipment. This leg took me 3 tries to get to Fort Simpson , Lost engines twice due to Carburator ice and ice build up on the flying surfaces. Tried leaving carb heat on ,but did not have enough power to climb out of the ice before the weight drug me down . Turned and made it back. out of Teslin...again. he valley route to Watson Lake. Map of the earth" As high as I could go an not ice up. A great Leg , great challenge.

All I can say about flying that Tri-motor through all that ice and snow is a line from Rudyard Kipling: "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din." Stop by for a tot of Famous Grouse!
