leg 10 (Strahan to Cambridge)
final and in some way melancholic journey,....although a final challenge, cause I got the special permit from GAAR director to start two hours in advance as I write a documentation for our local newspaper and have to show some pics in daylight: my starting time then was 16:00 instead of 18:00...
here are the last pics of this fantastic 2017 GAAR:
startup in Strahan with burning some cylinder oil from nine thirsty pistons:
last farewell:
and: last sunlight in my back.....
leaving this coast... towards the last adventure
the landscape is really worth to be seen at daylight....
beware of the rocky tops when you fly at night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the sun turns to go down and the colors are getting soft
haaa ........a navaid antenna like a rocket....lol....
thinking of St. Exupery....
speechless.....
everyone can have his or her own dreams about the next pics...
just feel the vibration of this ancient agricultural truck-bird and listen to the mighty sound of the working radial engine and smell the burnt fuel and oil.......
towards the last checkeret flag of this years Rallye
a wonderful workingplace, a little weird but comfortable and plain basics....in the meantime feeling cosy and home....
high and mighty: the first sparkling stars....
love the cockpit lighting towards the darkness
lonesome rider......
the waters of March (...there is a song for every situation....)
like melting gold....
twilight zone
.......an old dragon
just with sunset I have the target in sight!!!!!!!!
the last sunbeams on the plane and the first rockets of the firework.... isn't it romantic ( lol....another song....)
and "fireworks in the cockpit" .... alarm lights: fuel is loooooooooooooow....
so once again a speedy crosswind landing.....
seems to become a fantastic show tonight....ehhhh!?!?!
as always in these GAARs many helpful hands that organize and care for us pilots!!!!
last parking position........ deep sigh....
yeah thats what we call a festive major....
so many friends await us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU: PILOTS AND GAAR TEAM, FOR ANOTHER SPECTACULAR GAAR and:
I'll be back.....!
special thanks to
Urs from Switzerland who had all the wonderful ideas and created all the sceneries we participated this year and the years before; we became close friends since we met a few rallyes ago and we are both looking forward to new adventures!!!! (Swiss Austrian Connection)
I feel a little sad for all the other aircrafts we could not see this year, as I miss all the wonderful and different DC3s and C 47s and all the other so dearly beloved birds...
maybe next year....
okay thats it: next year: same time, same station!
Good luck to everybody and: fly safe!
Many happy landings!
