Well, I'm running late... here is leg 8, from Longreach (and its memorable BBQ under the wing) to Emerald. Lining up on Rwy 04 Bye Longreach, it's been nice (Shorty has gone long ago, but I'm afraid Thom is still asleep under the 747...) Turning in final for Rwy 01 at Barcaldine. Sorry again for the weather - it was raining while I landed, but clear weather is due to replaying the landing in FS Recorder Screenshot taken just after landing in the "real" flight - see the rain... During the little less than 2 hours stop over in Barcaldine, I slept in the back of the plane (still a bit silly after the Longreach beers and I like the sound of rain on the fuselage...) OK, we're back in the cockpit and ready to leave to Emerald (I'm thankful to the Cessna pilot who woke me up while taxiing close to my Avro, would have been really late without him). Lining up Rwy 01 Climbing to 15'500 ft Lake Maraboon, near Emerald We're early, so let's have a quick look at Fairbairn Dam OK, let's take another rest, because we'll have to take-off to Rockhampton tonight and join Shorty. I hope Thom will finally wake up. See you there, Raphael

Little late on the updates, but here we were a couple days ago when we arrived at Rockhampton. We parked in front of the RFDS hangar for a reason. We've been tasked to carry an additional ton (US) of non-perishable medication and supplies to Brisbane after the end of the rally. Our VA will have an MD-11F standing by on our arrival Monday morning with additional aid and once we load up this last bit of cargo, we'll be flying to Fiji to assist with the recovery efforts. We're scheduled to make 4 deliveries in the next 2 weeks, and then we'll begin our trek home with the Metro. Then today, we made it to Hervey Bay. Because of the need to leave early in the morning for Brisbane, we decided to fly the last leg before everyone else to ensure we got a good parking spot to get out without making the rampies have to move a bunch of birds. Got a good shot of the Boyne Island Smelter on the way down. Our parking spot. It's been a great Rally again this year!

Guys, As the GAAR 2016 draws to a close, I must say that the screen shots for the event have been fantastic, congrats to all that have submitted. This type of response makes all the flight planning and effort involved worthwhile. We at Bluegrass VA thank you and hope you enjoyed your GAAR.
As I mentioned earlier, keep an eye out for the 2nd NZAR around September, and naturally a new GAAR in 2017.
Cheers and fly happy Rob Flight planning
