As per NOTAMS ; thought would start a topic for thoughts on improvements or changes.
I really enjoy how every rally is run an set up. The only suggestion maybe to have the target times posted for the first flight only, leave the rest blank. I know I would score worse not knowing if I had to make a long full pattern or drop straight in like a rock , But I feel it would really spread the scores around, showing those who have the skills. Next ; Would like a small rally or separate class for aircraft single engine not more than 90 horse power, designed before 1950, and flown not over 7,000ft , short legs of no more than 120 miles , pilots could fly Ultra Lights , WW1 , Home Builds , Cub , Champs ,Taylor craft, powered gliders, just so it is not over 90 Horse Power. IFR would be; I Follow Roads

I like that idea for a light GA aircraft rally, I could tweak my favourite route round the highlands and islands of Scotland as a starter for four cylinders or less. So more like I Follow Nessie then.

What's with the stray "e"? Could be grounded before you get to the start line making remarks like that! Prestwick is as near by road as any, then it's a quick hop to Macrihanish for the hop to Grimsetter in www.bluegrassairlines.com/feature_of_the_month/2008/feature_dec2008.htmYou could extend the run up to Unst via the Westrays (shortest ever leg for an Air Rally), Fair Isle and Tingwall.

For and next rally, how about having a couple of admins in the loop re registrations being accepted and posted! I was told to just continue to fly the routes and then submit my times when I was posted on the roster - 2 weeks later almost, nothing! Having the test flight submitted seems to be a moot point when you don't know what your times are meant to be for each leg....influences planning the flight hugely!

Al, the only outstanding application from an Alan or any similar name was from a DCA pilot which was received seven days ago on september 9th, two days after the last roster update.
If this is not you, and you have made an earlier application, please resend it as there are no stray emails in the spam bin, which is gmail's favourite hiding place.
I have had work and other commitments which have only permitted me three evenings at home in the last fortnight. I knew that was coming up and set the webpages up in advance to permit folk to get set up well ahead of the event. The event does not officially start for another ten days.
Any pireps received ahead of the due dates will not be posted until after the due date, and any received after the due dates will be updated regardless of when received.

Apologies Allan if I seemed less than generous in my above comment - and yes, you did post my Sept 9th but not the one I had sent a week and a half before that, which you never recd. because some nimrod slipped in a "t" to the email address and it is therefore somewhere out there in cyberspace!! I do appreciate your time put into this event and well understand personal time constraints too .... I would love to sim more often. I was anxious to see my "posted times" to be better prepared for each leg. I used to fly m/player with my VA and cannot anymore because of time constraints and as per the "pirep" posting "early submissions" were "encouraged" and because I could not fly this rally as per the posted dates I was just "rarin to go" - so sorry again, did not intend to sound mean spirited , just frustrated....I assumed my first email had been recd. and we all know why you should never assume!!! I just proved the point!! Have a great day and thanks again for your contribution to this rally, it is appreciated.

Not to worry Al, the web can be a frustrating place when stuff goes astray. Whenever you can fly the legs we will get them posted. The target dates are just an attempt to keep things moving along at approximately the same rate, but we will post any pireps that come in after the end date as well.
Enjoy the event. Allan
