For Gibb River the nearest met office data was Hall Creek. The computer count was just mine, other PCs have more than doubled the total.

That should be near enough. The readings used are for morning (9am) and afternoon (3pm) at the selected airports as reported by Australian met office records. So the changes to suggested take-off times should be minor.
From memory one airfield did not have records, so a nearby one was used. I'll change laptops and check which one. 3 laptops and one PC participate in setting these flights up. The opportunities for operator error are endless, even before the operator intervenes.
With an 8th main simulator permutation coming in next year maybe we should drop FS2004 then.

Hi Rog,
This year we just need an average ground speed from each pilot, as we did for the GAMR23 rather than a test flight time. We can always reverse engineer the speed from a run of last year's test flight if that is simpler for anyone.
You are of course correct that I got the conversion calculation from Centigrade wrong. Even worse I thought that I had deleted the files with the faulty calculation from previous GAAR setups. A corrected set of weather information is now loaded as V2. Apologies to all. Flight information will be corrected before uploading shortly.

The 2024 GAAR is now available for pilot registration with flights scheduled for April.
Piston-engined and turboprop aircraft first flown between 1903 and 1999 are eligible.
Further updates of files will follow.
Airfield, routes and flights for FS9, FSX, P3D, MSFS and X-Plane will be available from mid March.
This year we are allowing pilots to simply nominate their Ground Speed at cruising altitude. Just be careful not to use Indicated Air Speed!

Thanks to all who helped to set up this event, putting up with my glitches along the way, and also all who have participated. I hope it has been fun.
Our next GAAR Rally will be in March ‘24.
DC-3 Airways will be running their DC-3 Virtual Airways World Tour 2023 in October. Details can be found on the DC-3 Airways website. For those who are not familiar with the DC3 Airways World Tours, there will be a number of scenic flights throughout the world using DC-3 flown during October.

At least they couldn't do you for transporting any apples in the cockpit across the state line heading North. Don't try it heading South!

Hi Cees,
Apologies for that oversight. For now, the P3D plan for Leg 07 should work fine as a stand-in. the reason for having so many waypoints on Leg 07 is to steer pilots through the pass west of Mt Shasta. The pass can be flown at 7,200'.
