GAAR 2017, Leg5, Camden to Cooma-Snowy MountainsJazzthom had brilliant idea! Why not departing in a double pack! The weather is fine, visibility conditions very good – OK, lets talk to the Tower-man!! Formation departure approved, tip-top.. fire up the machine! Ha..! Fiesta time is over - and cleaning up operations here! Cheers everybody and thank you!! Thom is leading our little squad – and we are taxiing for runway 06 Tower-man says: I shall hold runway 06.. Come on! Meanwhile, Jazzthom has disappeared into the blue sky.. ..so I setup myself for a comfy flight! Climbing up to 5000ft QNH and chatting with Thom on 123.45 MHz.. just for amusement! Southwesterly heading and I just passed Lake Burragorang! The Lake is impounded by the Warragamba Dam in the lower Blue Mountains. This reservoir is the major water storage for greater metropolitan Sydney! Travelling unaware overhead the Blue Mountains NP south.. suddenly Thoms voice in my headset: «He, I just passed Bindook VOR – look out for a large bushfire..!» My goodness! «Yep, I can see it, just in front of me» I replied.. Dry as a bone here!! Well, what a big forest fire! I even can smell the smoke in the cockpit! Luckily I'm overhead my checkpoint, turning left towards the coast.. ..and ravelling overhead the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains NP. And this is the Remembrance Driveway! This driveway (Sydney to Canberra) is a road in honour of those who served in wars in which Australia was involved. Batemans Bay.. I think Explorer James Cook was a «chiseler».. he found every spot in Australia which looks nice and relaxing! Today, Batemans Bay is a popular retiree haven with affordable housing and a relaxed seaside lifestyle.. Well: If I were a rich man! Just overhead Moruya airport, time check and turning right inland! In the back, you can see Mossy Point! Deua NP. is a remote wilderness area of escarpments and gullies, waterfalls, limestone caves, rainforests and an outstanding eucalyptus scenery. Well, back in lower countryside and changing to YCOM Tower frequency. Jazzthom is sitting in my neck somewhere! On my right, approach lights are within sight! I will never understand this T-VASIS.. I think I should fly up!! Nevertheless; on ground and Thom right behind! Groundhandling à la GAAR..! and leave nothing to be desired! The local aero club do it in style! Fellas..! A cold beer is needed after this hot experience today!

Agreed, Urs and Thom are definitely the Wing Commanders of entertainment for our GAAR's.
Many do not know what to do, including myself, to create screenies of the quality and entertainment of our two Wing Commanders
Well done guys

@ Raphael, Urs and Thom Thank you guys for your information on scenery improvements. Raphael, under P3D, I also use Pablo Diaz clouds, but not the sky textures, as they are reported non-compliant with P3D. Urs and Thom, you really are great scenery architects and improvers! Damned good screenies, mates!
Urs, guess I will have one of these days to look deeper into scenery improvement (apart from ADE)...
For those of you who downloaded Manfred Jahn latest C-47 version, would suggest you go on with v3.12 or earlier for the GAAR, as you will find some performance differences between v3.12 and v3.14.

thanks a lot gooneybird😉the C47 latest edition needs some fine tuning in the aircraft cfg.......but the cockpit lighting is really helpful,..... cannot understand why the Sperry AP is inop by all these efforts,....

Agree regarding the new C-47.
I down loaded and did a test flight around my local area. This is a great aircraft and a pleasure to fly but does need a little tweaking.
When I fly my C-47's I use the power settings as publish from DC-3 Airways and they fly pretty close to the real numbers.
What I did find with Manfreds new C-47 was it would not cruise past 120 knots, instead of the normal 140-150 knots which is the cruise speed of the real aircraft.
I would think just teething troubles with a new download.

No Snowy this time of year my friend, it is presently as dry and brown as an un- buttered slice of brown bread.
Nice screenies also.
